Production Engineer

Senex Recruitment is seeking a Production Engineer for a manufacturing role based in Snodland, Kent.

This is a practical and varied position focused on improving manufacturing processes, supporting production teams, reducing waste, improving efficiency and helping drive continuous improvement across the business.

You will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Management teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost efficiency.

The Production Engineer Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing manufacturing processes and identifying improvements.
• Supporting Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
• Analysing production data to improve efficiency, reduce waste and increase throughput.
• Creating and maintaining SOPs, manufacturing documentation and process controls.
• Carrying out process reviews, time studies and workflow analysis.
• Investigating production and quality issues using root cause analysis.
• Supporting corrective actions and practical problem-solving on the shop floor.
• Helping reduce machine downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Supporting New Product Introduction and production trials.
• Assisting with tooling, fixtures, layout improvements and manufacturing methods.
• Reading, interpreting and producing engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Supporting Health and Safety, quality and compliance requirements.

About You

You will be an experienced Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Process Engineer with a good understanding of manufacturing operations and process improvement.

You should have:

• Experience in a Production Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and waste reduction.
• The ability to read engineering drawings, CAD models and technical documentation.
• Experience producing SOPs, reports and manufacturing documentation.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
• Strong communication skills across Production, Engineering, Quality and Management teams.
• A practical, hands-on and data-driven approach to improving manufacturing performance.

Qualifications

Ideally, you will hold a degree, HND, HNC or apprenticeship in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.

Candidates with equivalent practical manufacturing engineering experience will also be considered.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be useful:

• CAD software experience.
• Six Sigma, Lean or Continuous Improvement training such as a Green belt or Black Belt
• Knowledge of ERP or MRP systems.
• Tooling, fixtures or production layout improvements.
• NPI or product launch support.
• Fabrication, CNC or sheet metal manufacturing.
• Automated manufacturing equipment.
