His personal goal was to move away from the common practice of oversending CVs and instead focus on carefully matching candidates to opportunities with professionalism, technical understanding and long-term fit in mind (We work to a CV to interview ratio of 1:1).

Kevin McHugh is the Company Director and Owner of Senex Recruitment Ltd. His professional background combines recruitment experience, career guidance, HR-related support, interview preparation and candidate development advice.

He founded Senex Recruitment with the aim of creating a more thoughtful and analytical recruitment service for technically challenging sectors. In fields such as science, engineering and manufacturing, successful recruitment requires more than keyword matching or sending large numbers of CVs. It requires judgement, sector and industrry  awareness, careful candidate assessment and a genuine understanding of what both the employer and candidate need.

The name Senex comes from the Latin word meaning “wise” or “one with experience and wisdom”. This reflects the company’s approach to recruitment: informed guidance, honest advice and considered decision-making for employers and candidates.

Kevin studied at the University of Leeds and was born and lived in East Sussex and Kent for a large proportion of his life.

Through Senex Recruitment, he has built a wide professional network across technical, engineering, scientific and manufacturing recruitment markets.
