Title: Business Development Manager
Join a Growing Defence Engineering Specialist
Senex Recruitment is partnering with an ambitious engineering company delivering advanced thermal management and cooling solutions to the defence sector. As part of continued growth and long-term strategic expansion, they are seeking a Sales / Business Development Manager to strengthen market presence, develop key client relationships, and drive sustainable commercial growth.
This is a high-visibility, strategic role where you will play a key part in expanding the organisation’s footprint across the defence industry, identifying new opportunities, and enhancing brand reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Growth & Business Development
- Develop and implement account plans to drive revenue growth and profitability
- Identify and win new business opportunities within the defence sector
- Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting to deal closure
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients in the defence sector
- Understand customer challenges and align tailored engineering solutions
- Position yourself as a trusted advisor within the defence market
Engineering Collaboration & Solution Development
- Work closely with engineering and design teams to deliver bespoke solutions
- Ensure technical proposals meet customer requirements and commercial objectives
Market Presence & Brand Development
- Represent the organisation at industry exhibitions, defence events, and conferences
- Support marketing activities, including brand awareness via Social Media and digital engagement
- Promote the company’s innovative capabilities and product offering
Commercial & Sales Operations
- Support tender submissions, bids, and commercial proposals
- Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline reporting
- Deliver value-driven solutions that enhance competitive advantage
Essential Skills & Experience
Defence & Engineering Expertise
- Strong understanding of the defence sector, procurement cycles, and customer landscape
- Experience in technical, engineering, or solution-based environments
Sales, Commercial, or Transferable Technical Skills
- Proven success in sales, account management, or business development, OR
- Technical/engineering professionals with the desire to transition into a commercial role
Relationship & Communication Skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building ability
- Confident communicator in client-facing and industry environments
Commercial Awareness
- Strong business acumen with the ability to assess commercial impact
- Target-driven with a focus on delivering measurable results
Additional Requirements
- Established network within defence or engineering sectors (desirable)
- Willingness to travel across the UK and internationally
