Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location – Near Canterbury, Kent

Salary: Up to £54,000 + Overtime – Favourable Continental Shift Pattern

Senex Recruitment Ltd is working with a successful and well-established manufacturing and industrial engineering business seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support production, minimise downtime, and contribute to production improvement initiatives.


About this Maintenance Engineer role

We are open to applications from mechanically biased, electrically minded, or general maintenance engineers, provided they have a basic level of electrical competence, including the use of electrical test meters and motor installation or connection.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, focusing on fault finding, reactive maintenance, and planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of industrial equipment.

Engineers with exposure to PLCs, automation, or instrumentation are welcomed, though these skills are not essential.

Key responsibilities

Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Equipment Reliability

Carry out scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment runs efficiently and downtime is minimised.

Reactive Breakdown and Fault Finding

Diagnose faults across mechanical and basic electrical systems and restore equipment quickly.

Manufacturing Equipment Support

Work closely with production teams to maintain safe and efficient operations.

Basic Electrical Maintenance

Carry out core electrical tasks including working with motors and using test equipment.

Maintenance Systems and Documentation

Maintain accurate maintenance records and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Production Improvement and Projects

Contribute to reliability improvements and engineering upgrades.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures.

Shift-Based Engineering Support

Work within a continental shift pattern covering days and nights. Shift ensures less weekend work compared to conventional 4on – 4off.

Skills and experience required

  • Experience within a manufacturing or production maintenance environment is esssential
  • Basic electrical competence (i.e. test meters and motor connections)
  • Mechanical, Multi Skilled or Electrical maintenance or general engineering background
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • Experience with industrial equipment (i.e. motors, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics)
  • Exposure to PLCs or automation advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to work within a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong awareness of health and safety
