This is a rare opportunity to join a highly technical engineering team working on patent-protected renewable solutions, where your FPGA expertise will directly influence real-world performance and product development.

About this role

You’ll be responsible for the design and development of FPGA-based systems moving to ASIC as the company continues to develop its digital capabilities, supporting products from early requirements through to verification.

Firmware and FPGA Requirements Development

• Develop firmware and FPGA requirements

Documentation and Verification Planning

• Produce FPGA requirements documentation and verification plans

Register Mapping and Technical Documentation

• Create register maps and supporting technical documentation

---

FPGA Design, RTL Development and System Support

• Analyse computational complexity and FPGA resource utilisation. Design, write, verify, and document RTL modules using HDL (Hardware Description Languages).
• Work closely with hardware engineers to support device selection. Support board bring-up and assist with system-level verification.
• You’ll report directly to senior electronics leadership while working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Skills and experience required

We’re seeking candidates with  experience in FPGA and digital design, ideally within embedded or high-reliability systems. With a willingness to adapt to ASIC when the product requires.

You should have:

• Experience in FPGA / ASIC design and verification
• Strong RTL skills using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and/or VHDL
• A solid understanding of FPGA design fundamentals
• Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado, Lattice Diamond/Radiant, or Microchip Libero
• Confidence developing and running simulations and testbenches
• Experience using verification techniques
• A methodical approach to debugging issues in simulation and on hardware
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within engineering teams
