About the FPGA RTL Digital Engineer job

You’ll be responsible for the design and development of FPGA-based embedded systems, supporting products from early requirements through to verification.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop firmware and FPGA requirements in collaboration with Product and Electronics teams
  • Produce FPGA requirements documentation and verification plans
  • Design and evaluate control algorithms for embedded systems
  • Create register maps and supporting technical documentation
  • Analyse computational complexity and FPGA resource utilisation
  • Design, write, verify, and document RTL modules using HDL (Hardware Description Languages)
  • Work closely with hardware engineers to support device selection
  • Support board bring-up and assist with system-level verification
  • You’ll report directly to senior electronics leadership while working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team.

What we’re looking for in this FPGA Engineer Job

We’re seeking candidates with strong experience in FPGA and digital design, ideally within embedded or high-reliability systems.

You should have:

  • Extensive experience in FPGA / ASIC design and verification
  • Strong RTL skills using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and/or VHDL
  • A solid understanding of FPGA design fundamentals, including CDC, constraints, STA, and timing closure
  • Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado, Lattice Diamond/Radiant, or Microchip Libero
  • Confidence developing and running simulations and testbenches
  • Experience using verification techniques such as UVM/OVM, SystemVerilog assertions, and coverage analysis
  • A methodical approach to debugging issues in simulation and on hardware
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively within engineering teams
