The Digital Electronics Engineer Role

This Digital Electronics Engineer role will focus on the development of FPGA-based embedded systems across a range of advanced applications.

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and verifying digital hardware solutions, working closely with electronics, product, and systems teams.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of hardware design, embedded systems, and algorithm development within a fast-paced R&D environment.


Key Responsibilities

FPGA Development & Design
  • Develop firmware requirements in collaboration with product and electronics teams
  • Design, write, and verify HDL code (Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL)
  • Develop register maps and supporting documentation
Verification & Testing
  • Create verification plans and carryout tests
  • Debug and resolve issues across simulation and hardware
  • Support system bring-up and validation activities
System & Algorithm Development
  • Develop and evaluate control algorithms
  • Analyse computational complexity and hardware resource requirements
  • Optimise designs within hardware constraints
Collaboration & Integration
  • Work closely with hardware engineers on device selection
  • Integrate and utilise IP blocks
  • Support cross-functional engineering activities

Skills & Experience

Essential
  • Extensive experience in FPGA/ASIC design and verification
  • Strong RTL development skills (Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL)
  • Solid understanding of FPGA design principles (CDC, STA, timing closure)
  • Experience with FPGA tools (e.g. Vivado, Libero, Lattice)
  • Strong debugging capability across simulation and hardware
  • Clear and confident technical communication skills
Desirable
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink or similar modelling tools
  • Knowledge of Python or scripting languages
  • Experience with Git/SVN
  • Familiarity with CAN, I2C, SPI interfaces
  • Awareness of functional safety standards
