Purchasing Supervisor

A Purchasing Supervisor / Team Leader is required in St Leonards On Sea, East Sussex. Senex Recruitment is working with a specialist supplier of high-end engineering products who require a proactive, forward thinking and commercially astute purchasing professional.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead cost saving throughout the supply chain and will require a tenacious and skilled negotiator to secure the best price on raw materials and items for manufacturing. While taking a wider view on purchasing strategy and supporting cost saving exercises in the supply chain.

Reporting to the Production manager, you will be leading a team of purchasing, planning and stock management specialists in a manufacturing environment.

Your duties as Purchasing Supervisor will include:

• Supervise a team currently comprising of a production scheduler, warehouse office and two administrators raising purchase orders and related follow up activities.
• Hands on purchasing activities to achieve the most competitive purchase price for the quality and quantity required for all raw materials purchased this will include price negotiations and establishing good pricing deals.
• Actively seek new suppliers if required.
• Placing orders for new materials
• Monitoring stock levels and access to materials.
• Ensure timely availability of critical parts.
• Track supplier performance
• Working closely with all departments such as manufacturing and design to ensure purchasing issues and queries are proactively dealt with.
• Support procurement-based projects to deliver increased margins, identifying where cost savings can be made.

With previous experience of Buying or Purchasing in a manufacturing or engineering environment, you will be able to develop a keen understanding of materials and components used in this companies’ production lines. You will have strong negotiation skills and able to develop robust solutions to purchasing and supply chain issues to deliver maximum efficiency and cost savings. You will be able to manage a small team and ensure the Purchasing and Stock management of the company is exemplary.

A CIPS qualification could be useful but not essential. Experience in the manufacturing sector would be an essential skill for the role due to the nature of the components produced.
